Using model based design to develop machines.

Model Based Design

The technology of Controllab centers around model based design. Model based design allows engineers to design and test their systems using simulations. Based on years of testing and measuring on-site, we have developed models for hydraulic and electric components that are very realistic. With these components we can build “virtual prototypes” that resemble the real system very well. This allows you to analyze your system and make improvements already in the early stages of design.

Advanced Control

In the offshore and high tech industry the level of automation is continuously increasing. This puts high demands on the design and testing of control systems. Controllab uses state-of-the-art tooling and design methods from the automotive and aviation industry to develop complex control systems. We are specialized in motion compensation, robotics and safety critical systems.

HIL Simulation

With Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation the physical part of a machine or system is replaced by a simulation. This allows rigorous testing of the control system without the real machine connected. Controllab develops HIL simulators for the offshore and high tech industry. With our simulators, customer can test their controllers under normal and abnormal conditions. This allows them to test major parts of their FMEA tables and save significant time during commissioning.

Training & VR

The toolset of Controllab contains modules for 3D visualization of our simulators. The virtualisations can be show on single and multiples screens and VR headsets. With this tooling we can turn HIL simulators into training simulators very cost effectively. Because the simulators use the same hardware and control software as the real machine, the simulators can migrate with the development of the machine.
