Two weeks ago we had the pleasure of welcoming Van Oord to our office to review the final updates of our digital twin of the Svanen. The digital twin is be used to simulate the operation of the 8 mooring winches of the vessel. After thorough testing, we are proud to announce that the simulator has officially been delivered today.
With this digital twin, the mooring system of the Svanen can now be tested extensively in a safe and flexible environment. Van Oord can evaluate the performance of winches and mooring lines under a wide range of environmental conditions (wind, waves, currents) without the high costs and limitations of real-life vessel testing.
The model has been built parametrically, enabling future use for different vessels and mooring configurations. This makes testing not only more efficient, but also scalable for upcoming offshore projects.
