Dredging
As part of the joint venture Dutch Dredging Simulators, we develop and release training simulators for the dredging industry.
Training Simulators
All our simulators are built on an accurate physics model. For example:
- The vessel model is based on a 3D body that exhibits inertia, buoyancy, and a response to waves, currents, and winds. The cutter head, spud poles and mooring lines behave as they would in real life.
- The power generated by the main engine is distributed to the thrusters, propellers, winches and pumps according to the calculated power demand.
- Pump speeds and torques are based on fluid speeds, pressures and densities.
The result is a simulator that accurately demonstrates how a real dredge will react to operator inputs. Our simulators are used to teach dredging operations and how to carry out dredging jobs safely and efficiently. Institutes such as STC use our simulators and confirm the capabilities of our software.
Cutter Suction Dredger
Our cutter suction simulators are equipped with:
- Vessel: 6D (roll-pittch-yaw, surge,sway,heave) motion in waves, tide, current, wind
- Drive train: diesel motors, electric motors, diesel generator sets
- Equipment: Spud poles, spud carriage, ladder, ladder winches, swing winches, anchor booms, anchors, cutter head
- Hydraulics: dredge pumps, piping, valves, booster pump
- Soil types: sand, gravel, silt and clay
- Standard controls and joysticks for swinging. Sensor outputs like mixture velocity and density, pump vacuum, pump pressure etc.
- Realistic defects such as anchor slippage, pipe blockage and cutter head clogging
The cutter simulators can be delivered as a transportable version in flight cases, static setup for training centers and in special class room set ups.
Hopper Dredger
Our hopper simulators are equipped with:
- Vessel: 6D (roll-pittch-yaw, surge,sway,heave) motion in waves, tide, current, wind, propulsion, rudder, thrusters
- Drive train: diesel motors, electric motors, diesel generator sets
- Equipment: draghead, suction pipe, swell compensators.
- Hydraulics: dredge pumps, piping, valves, booster pump, hopper
- Soil types: gravel, sand, silt
- Standard controls and joysticks for dredging operation and manoeuvring. Sensor outputs like mixture velocity and density, pump vacuum, pump pressure etc.
- Realistic defects such as irregular surface, draghead clogging and pipe blockage.
Our hopper simulators can be delivered as static setups for training centers.
