What if you could step into the operator’s seat of a hopper dredger, without leaving the exhibition floor? Together with Bachmann, Controllab has developed an interactive TSHD – Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger demonstrator that combines Bachmann’s control hardware with our real-time simulation.

Using 20-sim, we developed a physical model of the vessel that runs in real time and communicates directly with the Bachmann PLC. Operator inputs, such as the desired rudder angle, propulsion speed or bow thruster, are sent to the simulation, where the vessel responds dynamically. A Unity visualization brings the simulation to life on the main screen, allowing the operator to see the vessel’s behavior as it happens.
