Digital twin for a heavy-lift offshore operation
Over the past months, we had the pleasure of hosting two interns at Controllab, Ruben and Harold who worked on an exciting and challenging project:
the development of a digital twin for a heavy-lift offshore operation.
Using 20-sim for physical modeling and Unity for visualization, they built a realistic simulation of a vessel, crane, and pre-piling template. The model includes dynamic positioning, automatic ballasting, crane safety logic, thrusters, and hydraulic leveling, all working together in one integrated system.
To showcase the results, Harold and Ruben created a video that brings this digital twin to life and demonstrates how simulation can support complex offshore engineering challenges.
